2/13/2020 – Today’s Question(s) of Day

What are habits, quirks, or mannerisms that your spouse does that make you scratch your head or make you think “Now that’s weird?” that you still to this day don’t know why they do them?

When she is talking to me and standing, she often places her hands on her hips – even though she isn’t scolding me! It seems it just feels good for her back or something!

I have this quirk of my own of trying to find some sort of understanding behind “why’s”… that has left me with thoroughly knowing my husband and having at least some sort of hypothesis behind all his actions.  Now, one quirk he has, that I can answer some sort of “why” on, but it’s the “how” that stumps me… and that is his canny ability to remember random lines from movies…when he actually does not have a good memory with real life.

My husband is like this too!  He can’t remember our kids birthdays but can quote movie lines from movies he’s only seen once or twice!

When he’s working at a computer, he always has to raise his elbows constantly (it’s hard to describe). I don’t know if he’s trying to avoid cramping of his arm/wrist while using a mouse or what, but it’s weird and I’ve never asked him about it or seen anyone else do this.

Well, over here its the amazing memory of all grandparents birthdays, death dates, funeral dates, anniversaries, and how many years for each one, as well.

Also, the same for older people where he grew up, some neighbors, etc. You try to figure out a date for when something happened, and DH will know, or figure it out shortly. He also knows the birth year, if not month and day, of most people around here. Lol he even knows the years all my siblings, and likely inlaws, were born.

BUT, he can’t remember a conversation from 2 weeks ago! I say its because his mind is too full of everyones, birthdays, death days, anniversaries and on and on.

Wonder what he would write about me, on this question.

My husband smells things a lot.  Not just things that you would think smell good or bad but random things that you wouldn’t think even have a smell, like lint from his pocket, a pipe cleaner craft the kids made, a piece of paper on his desk etc.  He will go out of his way to bring them to his nose and sniff.   I’ve asked and even he doesn’t know why he does it lol.

He has this habit of doing mundane things with “flourish” when he really shouldn’t. For example, when he wrings out the dish rag (yes, I’m grateful he’s doing the dishes) he raises it way up in the air, like shoulder height, and flings the excess droplets off into the sink–only from that height, they don’t all make it into the sink. He can’t seem to help himself. I think it’s just part of his sense of humor and fun that comes out when he least expects it.
