A question for someone more techie than I

I received an email yesterday, seemingly directly from “a person”, versus going through the “contact via email” on TMB.

In this email, you can tell it’s generic, but they linked me back to a post on here. … actually adding that link in the email….calling it “your site”, which is why I say it’s generic.  They also referenced a link I had shared.

I am guessing this may have something to do with cookies when visiting a website, but how does one actually get ones personal email address?  Are there protective measures to take?

In your profile is your email set to hidden?  If so then I wouldn’t think anyone could (or should) be able to access it.  If you are set to hidden already, then the site administrator here should check their security.

This does sound fishy.  A cookie is stored on your system that would tell the site (like this site) who you are so when you come here it automatically knows you you are without login.

My email is hidden here. It seems more like they found me from the link to the medical news link I posted. I am sure I put no personal information in on the that website.

Would it be beneficial to see a copy of the email?

I can’t add a live link because I am on my phone, but this is the page that was referenced: https://qna.themarriagebed.com/question/questions-about-fe/2/

And then they mentioned the medicalnewstoday link I posted.

I wouldn’t post it; maybe send it to the tmb admin?

I sent it to PaulB in a PM yesterday, because I know he’s the tech brain behind it all. I am just not sure how often he actually checks these things. I guess I will try another avenue to make sure it gets to him.
