We never have sex if the kids are home, it is just too stressful. I don’t know how other couples are able to just shut out the fact there are other people in the house. Once the “stay at home” pandemic guidelines are lifted we will possibly think of having sex again. It is just not relaxing to worry about what the kids are doing.

@Tabitha how old are your kids? Based on how long you and your DH have been married I am assuming they range from around 8-18.  Put a movie on or have an older kid watch the younger ones for an hour or so. Besides the benefit of the kids knowing that Mom and Dad love each other and are intimate it also teaches self reliance and responsibility.

As the oldest sibling in my family I watched out for my kid sisters a lot and that helped me develop into a responsible adult.

We have a teen and preteen. They have to be in their rooms by 9 (younger one has lights out by then). We lock the door every night so it is a normal thing regardless of if we’re getting busy. When we’re concerned about noise we turn on music as background/cover noise.

We are waiting for things to warm up so we can have the RV in the driveway as a choice too!

Not so impromptu, but what works for us is after they are asleep, middle of the night, and/or before they awaken!
