Hands protection?

A recent spell of UTIs has occurred with my DW.  We are trying to eliminate and resolve what is causing it.  I try to wash everything before we begin.

One thing we’ve been doing my hands and fingers before “doing the walking”.  it has been great for stimulation.  but a few days later, BAM! UTI.  We are confused on how shes getting it, especially if i’m taking the time to wash up.

She thinks its from my hands.  Does anyone have any suggestions for finger protection?

I have great sensitivity to UTIs, as I have a weakened immune system due to autoimmune and chronic illness.   Here is what my suggestions would be:  Use hand sanitizer first, then wash with soap (hand sanitizer on a vulva sounds painful!!), I would second the nail brush, we use coconut oil as a lubricant (it has anti-bacterial properties, and when we didn’t use it once, I got a UTI).  I also use something called d-mannose if I start to feel the twinge of a UTI.  I will take 1 tsp 2-3 times a day for a few days.

I hope you can find a solution, it is very frustrating.

Yes to the D-Mannose! But google and make sure she’s taking the correct amount. Also i am so glad my H always always washes his hands before inserting them into me, that’s just kind of a given….

You might want to wear gloves or finger cots.

I have a question: Does she urinate immediately after your fun together? That is commonly viewed as a good safeguard against UTIs.

Yes she urinates after, she cleans, she does other stuff she doesn’t tell me.

She also tries to eat right, yogurts, cranberries, drinks water.  (any other advice is good too)

Maybe an over the counter supplement like Azo? She doesn’t use douches or anything like that, right?

No tight underwear or pants, only cotton underwear, and avoid thongs as they can easily shift bacteria from the back end to the front (if you get my drift).

No baths, only showers. Use non scented soap, even a baby shampoo, rather than scented anything down there.

Is she drinking cranberry juice? Is it the pure kind or is it like ocean spray? Most cranberry juices actually have more pear juice than cranberry. She can buy the pure juice and dilute with water.

Are her UTI’s diagnosed and she then goes through a round of antibiotics? Does the doc know she’s having recurring UTI’s? It could be that the initial infection only dulls down while taking antibiotics and then comes roaring back after she completes the treatment. How long is she going between UTI’s?

She is doing all of these things, though I didn’t know about the cranberry juice, so I’ll have to research that.  I don’t know the full extent of her conversations with the doctor, but she does go onto antibiotics and she finishes them.

I just know that we added a different bit of foreplay and UTIs follow. so i’m looking for ways for myself to prevent it.  Looking for ideas.

Have you bought a nail brush? you can use it to clean under your fingernails when you wash your hands. Otherwise, I can’t think of anything else, so sorry!

No advice for protection, but I just want to add that the cranberry pills are, in my mind, more effective than the juice. It’s more concentrated and you don’t have to chug liquid everyday.
