Have you used music to express your own heart to your spouse, or them to you? Share your songs!

I am not a poetry person, I am too literal, which makes me struggle in writing it or grasping it.  I have also been an emotional avoider and have struggled with expressing my thoughts and feelings, so music has always been something that has spoken to me and has often been my voice.  Since Valentines is coming up, plus I have been apart from my husband for over a week, I have been thinking about potential song dedications.

If you and your spouse have “a song”, whether from the past or that currently is “yours”, please share it.

The current one that makes me think of us is, Don’t Give Up On Me

Other ones that have a special meaning to us are:

When I Look At You  (Me to him)

To Make You Feel My Love (Him to me)

    Remember When

Our “song” is Bryan Adams’ “Everything I Do”. It was over used when we first started dating, and it was a bit of a fluke that it ended up being our song.

As an amateur musician and singer, I often express myself in music. Dh isn’t into music at all, which was a relief for me as my abusive ex-fiance was a wanna be professional musician and ruined many songs for me. Songs I still can’t listen to, 24 years later.

However, that part of me is still important. When I play piano, certain songs are meant just for him. “All I Ask of You” from Phantom of the Opera. “Beauty and the Beast”. (That sounds bad, but there are lines that almost perfectly describe how we fell in love.) Debussy’s Clair de Lune.

‘Everything I Do’ was in my sister’s wedding and it’s their song. I still like it. 🙂

Robin Hood with Kevin Costner was new in our dating years, so ‘Everything I Do’ was absolutely a big thing for us. 🙂

I give my wife a “mix” CD 1-2x a year.  Most of the time they’re new country songs or modern love songs. I keep a running list on my phone, then put & burn a mix tape for her.

Some favorites have been songs like:

        YOURS Russel Dickerson

BODY LIKE A BACK ROAD Sam Hunt

BRAND NEW MAN Brooks & Dunn

        BACK TO LIFE Rascal Flatts

        CRAVING YOU Thomas Rhett

ARE YOU GONNA KISS ME OR NOT Thompson square

        GOOD STUFF Kenny Cheney

        …and so much more

@SC, that is a good question and a wonderful thought. Most of the songs that speak to DW are those we sing at church – not that many romantic ones.

Also, I communicate my love to DW not through songs, but poetry.

We’ve loved Randy Travis’s Forever And Ever, Amen ever since we saw him in concert together back in our high school days.

Stryper’s Honestly is another big one for us too.

              I’m baffled too.   🙂

Totally off topic, but you were in my thought a lot with all the news of the fires. Are you, your family and what’s yours okay?

              Thanks for asking Seeking.

We are on the east coast in sort of the middle bit – Brisbane – that has avoided burning so far. And we have been blessed by some really good rain in the last week or so which is great because our well had run dry and the tank was heading that way.

But we moved here from down south where the fires have been huge and deadly, so we feel their pain .

My wife DOESN’T like that one either as well as SWEET BUT A PSYCHO by Ava Max…but with her in menopause it really fits so well. LOL…and she’ll admit it too sometimes.

Our daughter self-picked SWEET BUT A PSYCHO as her theme song a while back…
