    lemme say something about a personal website idea, as an opinion;

    I did this many years ago off of Yahoo web services. I rented a URL and placed my latest family pics and info for two reasons; One was to allow my parents a thousand miles away, to access save our family pics. The other reason was to use my computer networking degree and put it to work and show potential employers what I could do. I failed in that.

    The time it took me to update the site was too much. Too often people had access to personal info that put my teens at risk. So the site was scrapped.

    Now if you use a service to build it and maintain it, you still invest time to keep things updated. If you are selling things full time or you live with parents who pay your expenses, you could do this part time. You will want a measure of success for having a web page. This is measured in cash. Some people have blogs that bring in cash from advertisers. Often Instagram is better, unless you run a conservative site.

    Remember we all have 24 hours in a day. The amount of time you spend will depend on how much cash the site brings in. If it is lucrative, you can hire a service to handle many things for a fee and then you can go do fun things as the site runs itself. I know a guy at my gym who sells chocolates online. Valentines and Christmas are big days for him. But he makes a living. Another guy I knew sold mag wheels exclusively, he eventually moved to Oregon. You can do that when you have an online business.

          jude, your question makes no sense.  Are you asking if you should be receiving acknowledgment via email if something you posted is voted up or down?  Your IP and Internet connection speed have absolutely nothing to do it with it.  Please clarify what you are seeking.

            Okay.  It sounds to me, then, that it might be due to your Internet provider.  Our site is not on any type of overload (the previous site did end up getting overloaded at times, which is why we switched to this format).

            If your carrier is so slow that it’s going down to 2400 BAUD, then that may be the culprit for you.

                Dale, et al,  Sometimes it is hard to tell if response speed is website (cnv), internet, ip, or user’s computer.

                A key is struck, a word is entered, and one waits.  There fails to be a time out, a 404, 405, 500, or any other error.  Will go to another site, like check email, read a post come back to CNV, and the cursor has failed to move.  duh.

                Vote and fail to see acceptance of vote.   Other CNV  posts are read, try again to post or vote, fail to see any activity,  THUS; My IP or website?

                Have seen others posts the same problems on other sites. Some possibilities have been given, like site, or server overload.   It seems the faster the internet gets the more it clogs up!

                Does anyone else have like problems?

                  This morning tried to vote a few posts as being useful, and got a message: “You do not have enough points to downvote.”   Which promptly  disappeared!

                  What is going on? this is frustrating!
