Maximizing your Kegel Grip
Have any of the wives on here (or husbands if you know your wife has) tried Kegel weights? If so, what was your experience with them?
I am pleasantly shocked by what they have done for me. First off, let me add that I had made up my mind and was not going to ever buy them. Good, old Kegel exercises were good enough for me. However, I didn’t like doing them, and wasn’t sure I was doing them right, anyway. Also, I wasn’t having any bladder leakage, so everything was fine, right?!
One day, I was shopping on Amazon for something unrelated and a set of Kegel weights popped up. They were beautiful, and I loved the colors, if nothing else. I read the reviews and on a whim, ordered them.
Wow, was I ever wrong. There was a set of 6, from lightest to heavy. You are supposed to be able to eventually hold one in for 15 min. I inserted the lightest, and the farthest I got was walking 4 steps! You need to hold it in for 2 minutes to start walking around with it in. So, I had to do the special exercises, while lying down, which took about a week. Than I was just able to hold it in for 2 minutes while walking around.
DH and I both noticed a difference 3 days after I started. The package said it would take approximately 3 weeks. I have tightened up a lot since than, though. I’ve had them about 4 months and I am on the 4th one now. Each weight, I seem to have to spend a little longer on it to get to 15 min.
My vagina is visibly ‘fuller’ and I can feel it as well. Its a lot better for DH as he can actually ‘feel’ my vagina, during PIV. I can feel my circulation has improved there, as well. Also, its much easier for DH to keep his erection. I still have difficulty squeezing him during PIV, but that is supposed to improve with time.
When you have gotten the Kegel strength you are happy with, you wear that weight for 15 min, twice a week. I am relying on DH to tell me when he thinks I’m at the right place!
And to think, all this time I thought my muscles were pretty strong! I guess that comes with age and pregnancies.
I agree with SC. And also, if its approached as something for the DW, it will go over better than if the husband wants them for his sake! The least that might happen is her muscle tone might improve. The most, that the husband would notice the difference as well. I really felt bad that I could have done this sooner, and saved my DH some stress!
I also wanted to be proactive, and do what I could before I needed to do something.
I read that just getting older does things to the vagina, as in losing muscle tone.
A friend told me recently she’s worn a pad for years, because she thought she had vaginal discharge. Now she’s thinking its actually a leaky bladder. But, everything is too much work for her and its easier to keep wearing a pad, I guess!! I would be greatly motivated to do something, if that was me!
I have a set of six. I tried for probably a month and had a terrible time. I just inserted and thought I was supposed to go about my business, but geeze, that was not happening. I have been wanting to try again. Mine did not come with any instructions. So, per your instructions we are supposed to insert the lightest weight, be able to hold it for approx. two minutes before attempting to walk around. What were your other special exercises? I would love to try them again. I like the ones I got, the feel is nice they are a brand named Luvkis. I think I only paid about 30.00. They are similar to yours.
I also have the Lelo Luna balls, but I never got them to stay in. (LOL, I bought them with Christmas money from my Mil! Imagine what she would say!)
The one also has an inner weight that moves a bit.
When I started with the Kegel Weights, and I could finally keep them in for a bit, my back got very sore from just trying to keep them in. No problems, now though.
I haven’t tried them, but a friend mentioned a product used for pelvic floor therapy, because often kegels are done wrong or aren’t effective enough…. so I (we- I mentioned it to my husband, and he goes gung-ho in research) have been looking into those. My gynecologist has been warning me for 13 years what is to come after having 4 babies/vaginal births. 😯 now with hormone changes having an effect also, I figured it’s time to take things a little more serious.
@Scott, if a wife who has had multiple babies and hasn’t thought about her pelvic floor yet, she will be at some point… and I am not talking about for sexual purposes only. Bladder control is a very sensitive topic and an embarrassing one. I personally believe that it will hinder a woman sexually if she doesn’t have an open enough relationship with her husband about these kind of things…. come on, who wants to be mortified by accidental urine leakage? Who wants her husband’s face down there when she knows she may have leaked or could leak?
My suggestion on bringing it up…. “Hey, I read about how women face [this], and they mentioned some products, would you have any interest in them? If not right now, if there ever comes a time you are, we can look into it more and we’ll get you what you need.”
You opened the door. You invited her to come in, now or later. And you made it a “we” issue rather than a “her” issue.
FYI for others, one of the companies we were looking at, actually has one that can help woman learn to orgasm while also strengthening the pelvic floor. It was called the Intensity.
Well…I bought the regular size Lelo’s for my wife’s “naughty stocking” at Christmas. It comes with 4 weighted balls (2 lighter & 2 heavier) and a way to pair two of them. The instructions say to start by inserting one for 1-2 wks If you can’t keep it in and then gradually increasing the weight or weight combo so 4-8 wks later you’ll be able to keep them in and do various activities. The balls also have something inside that you can feel a little as they move.
She didn’t start till after the new year so she’s still developing. I feel like I’m starting to feel a difference when inside of her.
I wonder how these compare to the Lelo kegal weights. I bought a set of those several years ago, it comes with 4 balls of increasing weights and you work your way up from the lightest to the heaviest and then use a harness to do two of the heaviest at once. I’ve had four kids vaginally so I was surprised that it was not an issue for me to keep even the two heaviest in for hours at a time. After multiple hours I started to feel slightly sore but I never had them fall out or any trouble keeping them in. I sort of concluded that maybe kegal weights were not a very accurate representation of kegal muscle strength because like I said four kids. I also have the occasional issue with leakage when I cough or sneeze hard with a full bladder. I wonder if it was that brand or weights in general…
