Minor lighting idea turned out to be brilliant; fulfills and inspires fantasy!

I don’t know why I waited so long to “get around to” implementing this idea that I’ve had for a while. We have several of those lights that are used at Christmas to shine on the side of a house and work a bit like a kaleidoscope. It’s basically a faceted acrylic ball which spins in front of a light. We bought them for use at one of DD’s birthday parties because blue and teal ones make a water effect, like when a covered pool reflects on the ceiling.

Last night we tried using it in the bedroom. It was SO beautiful! My imagination took off in fantasies that we could explore, right in our own bedroom–poolside, UNDER water, ice cave; then I got to thinking if we got a red one and some furry blankets it could be a cave and we could be lost in the wilderness, prehistoric cave people, or really in touch with our animal sides. I think there are ones that project stars, for those with the space fantasy–maybe add an inflatable cushion on top of the bed to simulate an alien planet’s surface? Yellow and a spiked thermostat could maybe help simulate a desert situation as background for a dance with veils.

I could keep going, but I’m curious if anyone else has used these lights, if you found they inspired or fulfilled the atmospheric portion of any fantasies, and how much value they added to your experience?

After reading these ideas, is anyone inspired to go grab one while Christmas lights are in stores?

Have you ever tried adding something small  you thought might be “nice” that turned out “really super great”?

    I like how you think. But…cash…lotsa cash…

I think I paid $15 for this light at Walmart.

I’ve been doing exactly this for a few years! Try also screwing with flame bulbs… neato.

Another cool thing I’ve been messing with is using a hula hoop suspended from the ceiling with various fabrics and drop cloth plastics with lights and star projectors to make a canopy that looks like outer space or some sci-fi vortex of awesome sexiness. Dress my wife like a Vulcan space girl and it’s on!

I just realized that my profile pic is a pic of exactly the sort of thing you’re describing! I love messing with the lighting!

That’s a cool idea!…I put crown molding in our room, about 3 inches lower than normal on the ceiling and lined it with led rope lighting…i can change the color, fade colors, do all sorts of stuff…we have a good time with that and it’s all operated by remote.

Good on you Duchess! No, we have never been lighting things up quite like that!

We have a blue led light strip over our bed in the camper… Everyone calls it the “bow chicka wow wow” lights.

We have a little disco ball lamp on our headboard, for the sole purpose of sex…. well, and now my grandson. It has little blue, green and red LED lights that reflect, and it can give an underwater feel. We also have a red light/lamp.

I don’t do it for the fantasy aspect you do, but it does give a different mood. I started using them as a first step to using light. I wanted my husband to be able to see, and the red light can give the ambiance of fire light, and it can hide those “flaws” many women are self-conscious of (stretch marks, cellulite etc). We still use the red light frequently because it’s just easier on the eyes at night.

You are right, even without the fantasy thoughts it was just generally beautiful and calming and just the right amount of light.

I’ve been thinking of getting Phillips Hue or similar color LED’s for the bedroom.

I have to admit it’d be awesome to have that voice controlled with specific settings for sex. Can you imaging saying “Set lighting to WOT, level 3” and it just happening? I’d totally feel like Jean-Luc Picard! 😀 🙂 😆

@Scott,  Until your inlaws or someone from church asks to check it out, and then you have to say those same commands to show them the settings…. as your mother-in-law waits in anticipation…. “WOT, level 3”  or “Doggy style, level 2”  😆   (Honestly, I have no clue if that’s how those things work, but that’s what entered my mind when reading your comment.)

While I’m pretty sure I’d be just normal-level embarrassed at that, Zelda would probably die if that happened…

@Scott, you crack me up! I would love for our home to have all the features of Voyager so I can be Janeway, but until they invent self-contained systems, forget it! I might like Sci-fi, but I’m also a murder nerd and too many shows have used the “hack the smart car-house-whatever to kill someone” plot!! ROFLOL! 😀

We got a ball a couple years ago that reflects various colors (Blue, green, red) around the room. The colors can be changed around from one color to a mix of colors. Fun and certainly adds some sparkle to our sizzle. Add some music and the mood is set! 🙂

Edit: My wife strung a strand of whit Christmas lights on the headboard for a different lighting experience.

                    Thanks for the inspiration.
On the topic of lighting, I realized last month that a charger cable light was bright enough to project my WOT image onto my (thin) curtains! Making me wonder how many neighbors got a breast-bouncing show. 🤦🏽‍♀️ 😂

I’m guessing we’ve all played with flashlights in the dark to make huge hands on the ceiling/wall. Well, I have a fancy watch with the LED on the back side for monitoring heart rate from my wrist, and the LED is strong enough to do that shadow thing. A few weeks ago, I was taking it off prior to ML and I looked to the side and saw the light put a silhouette of my semi-erect penis on the wall next to me…

Being a typical dude, I started playing with the watch-penis distance and angle to make it look like a monster. DW and I had an awesome laugh and it made me feel like a stud!

This is a really great idea! We have some of those Christmas color-changing projectors but I never thought about using them in the bedroom. I might try that out this weekend!
