Recovery time

Hi everyone, I just wanted to ask what’s your or your husband’s average recovery time if you were to go at it two or more times? Anything that you found helpful to speed it up? any tips? Thank you!

@MSZ my husband can usually go again 10-15 depending on how much work I want to put in. The good news is the 2nd and or 3, 4 or however many times. He lasts much longer at least my man does. Hope this help.

I remember those days when I could be ready to go again in 30 mins (but rarely did after our first 15-20  yrs together.)   Now, at 66, even though I am in good shape my recovery time is 3 to 4 hours (at best) and a 3rd round is “a bridge too far.”

I also know that when DW would allow me to go down on her, my erections were always harder…

Same here, I find giving my wife oral sex is extremely stimulating for me. She usually refuses though, would love to have a wife that liked to get oral sex, I would give it daily if she wanted it, even if I never got it.

I get that entirely! Oral on my wife has always got my motor running! So much so sometimes, that I would orgasm uncontrollably while just doing oral on her! Been a while since that has happened however, which is probably a good thing, although, she did find it kind of sexy!

I have often had a similar experience when enjoying oral on my wife. I think she finds it amusing but mixed with a little bit of concern for me. This is because she can see that it is semen and not pre-cum and thinks I might not be able to have an orgasm inside her. But it hasn’t happened like that yet!

Yep. DH has always had a quite long refractory period. Only times we’ve managed twice in a day were if we had morning sex then late that night, and even then, he found it less enjoyable. AND, he is extremely sensitive for some time after, so I can’t even experiment with attempting to get him going again while I’m still in the mood.

Well, I’m usually 6-12 hrs and definitely more foreplay and stimulation is needed before another orgasm on the same day. Erection can happen within an hour for sex.

HOWEVER, I will add that I bought a We Vibe Couples vibrator and DW and I were using it the first week we got it while on vacation. I had another orgasm three hrs after the first that day while using it. Seriously, at 53. Both of us couldn’t believe it ‘cause the only time that might have happened was on our honeymoon over three years ago and I’d been celibate for 10 yrs so there was a lot of pent up energy and time to make up for.  😀

I am 41, can still usually get hard again in 20 minutes to 1/2 hour after orgasm but sometimes I can’t orgasm again without stopping for a bit (that seems to be a “reset” at this point) and then going again. From our early wedded days until age 32 I could go again almost immediately. I went through a metabolism change and refractory period change at that age and although it hasn’t changed much since, I’m still navigating it!

I’m 46 and could go again within 15-20 minutes, but it must involve oral or very high levels of passion from her. However, she is a one and done girl and doesn’t seem to have any interest in an extended second round of PIV.

Threads like this are why I consider myself to have an “average” male drive that is lower than many men here. While we haven’t tested it specifically, even currently in my mid 30’s I think I would need 4-6 hr to be able to engage in legitimate PIV sex (able to achieve a moderately lasting erection of acceptable intensity). In my early 20’s that may have been 2-3 hr, though again, it was never really tested except maybe our consummation night on our honeymoon.

If recovering from masturbation only, the time is much shorter (<1 hr) because the orgasm isn’t as satiating. This is likely due to 4x more prolactin being released during partnered intercourse than in solo masturbation. To be fair, that time is from one M session to another, and I would guess PIV would be more difficult (less firm than a hand and also the issues with a real-life, 2-person situation rather than a fantasy-induced arousal).

Also of note is that the recovery time depends not only on the time since the previous session, but also the session before that. I know for a fact I can perform in PIV the morning after a nighttime coitus session. However, after that one I really am DONE for quite some time. We saw this early in our marriage where going twice a day was relatively easy, but 3x in a day was very difficult.

Does this mean his ability to get an erection? Or his ability to have an orgasm?

His ability to get an erection, sorry I didn’t clarify that in the question. Second orgasm may or may not come.

Okay since others are being brave, I’ll spill the beans and tell you I’m 62 and at attention in less than an hour, but like already mentioned, need more focused attention.

I am 58 and can get an erection again in 30 minutes, depending on how rested I am, how much exercising I am getting (lately, 5 days a week for 35 minutes on a rowing machine), and what DW is wearing!

I need probably 1-2 hours before I can O again.
