Where did you think babies use to come from as a innocent child before you received sex education/insight?

All I know is at the ripe old age of 12, a mentally handicapped friend told me that girls my age had babies sometimes. I was so scared and had a terrible year, worrying about it. I just knew I was getting fatter. I didn’t realize at that point, that it took a dad and a mom.

My mom felt she had not had enough information early enough, so I think she over-compensated a bit by educating me with the science (sperm, eggs, uterus, etc.) very early. The only part I didn’t know was how the sperm got to the eggs. I thought when the mom and the dad went to bed at night it kind of “jumped” from him to her. Nap time at the babysitter’s was a wee bit alarming!

All my mom told me about babies was to lay there and your husband will do the rest and if you are lucky you will get pregnant and he won’t bother you again for a long time. That is what I get for being raised by a strict religious woman. I probably told my son too much to compensate as well. Although as a teen he probably already knew more than I did. I’m sure he must have laughed as I struggled to get words like penis and vagina to come out of my mouth.

We spent a lot of time on a relative’s farm. I knew that baby horses came from mommy horses. So, it made sense that baby people came from mommy people!

Women had babies and men didn’t – I just took it on face value without wondering why or how. Such questions didn’t bother me. I was too busy playing outside with other little boys.

You might have a hard time getting any “real” answers for this question…If people truly remember stuff like that, they are way smarter than I am!

I remember seeing pregnant women and knowing babies came from their bellies. But no idea about how they got pregnant or how the birth occurred.

I remember believing if married people just “willed” it, a baby would form. I then asked my mom around age 5 and actually got an answer 😂

I have no recollection of giving it much thought.

I don’t think I ever thought about it as with a lot of things.  My world at that age was focused and small that did not include such intellectual pursuits.  However, when I began to consider this I held the view that a baby came from a man and a woman, as in “they had a baby.”

I don’t think I ever really wondered enough to formulate my own theory on it, up until it occurred to me to wonder I didn’t really give it much thought.  I was a very curious child (constantly asking questions) and I think I was about 5 when I did wonder, specifically how the baby got into the mommy’s tummy so I asked my mom and she told me.
