Turn off auto follow?
I don’t want email updates and don’t want to auto follow every post I respond to but see no way to turn it off? Help?
I know how to unfollow individual threads, but it is annoying and shouldn’t be necessary at all. A modern forum should have a universal opt-in or opt-out option.
It seems, and Dale or PaulB would be the ones to know or find out, but with this system, it’s either no one gets any kind of notifications, because there wasn’t an “opt-in” option (follow) of getting email notifications for those who wanted them, or turning on notifications and people can “opt-out” (unfollow).
I liked the old TMBs way of you only got one email notification, no matter how many replies were given, until you went in and checked it out. And then you would get another notification if something new happened again after that.
I have a “garbage” email address that I don’t ever check and it doesn’t notify me about anything, so I changed my email address for this forum to that one.
I agree. I would prefer if following posts was opt-in rather than opt-out.
It seems that the only available setting is to auto-follow posts, and opt out by unfollowing individual posts.
Yep, you have to “unfollow” questions. On a computer, if you hover over the original post, little blue symbols pop up in the right hand corner, the one with a “minus” (-), is the unfollow option. On my phone, there is a large button at the bottom of the original post that says “follow/unfollow”. It’s really not difficult, you just have to remember to do it. 🙂
