Is Ben Hur (1959) a Christmas movie?  It does have that part at the beginning with the Nativity scene.   it is a movie about vengeance, character change, and salvation.  The Ben-Hur 2010 two part miniseries is the best with character change of a man who refuses to take vengeance.

I would not let them watch Die Hard (1988).  But of course they are grown now and have seen the TV version, I am sure.  Oh, I would not let my small children watch Hallmark Christmas Movies, mostly for preference than Christian value.s.

It’s not specifically a Christmas movie, but I’ve always thought that the priest at the beginning of Les Miserables is probably one of the best examples of Christ-like behavior I’ve ever seen in media. In fact, I’ve commented that his application of the principle of turning the other cheek is so perfectly aligned with Jesus’ teachings that it’s actually less believable; it just seems so unrealistic because we’re not accustom to seeing that kind of humility and self-sacrifice.

I watched The Bishop’s Wife with David Niven and Loretta Young the other day on the old movies channel. It was so sweet and talked about the true spirit of Christianity. Helping the needy and being loving to one another. The Boys Choir sang beautifully. Oh did I mention Cary Grant was in it?

It’s A Wonderful Life is the classic Christmas movie but some think its too intense for kids.

Nothing Christmas-y is coming immediately to mind, but The Father Brown Mysteries are exceptional in my opinion.

Actually, some people consider Harry Potter a Christmas movie (for what, one whole scene? Eh.) I will say that the 5th book/movie always reminds me vividly of what it might look like to endure wide-spread persecution for believing in Christ. I hope I would be as brave as the kids at the end of that story.

Oh! Well, there’s always The Nativity Story (2006).  😛

We are fairly permissive with what we allow DD to watch, but we did make her wait until she was older for Christmas Vacation. I don’t think she has even seen Die Hard–DH and I have a mock argument going about whether it is a Christmas movie or not. I just don’t want to watch it! 😀

Top 3 favorite Christmas movies for me are Muppet Christmas Carol, Arthur Christmas, and The Princess Bride.

None of those strike me as being particularly Christian in themes or message.

The Star is kiddy animation but very good. Charlie Brown Christmas is good too
