Why are comments removed?

I have read through the rules.  I don’t see where comments can be removed because of a particular reason.  What is the standard?  I can see in the Badges that ‘editing another’s comment’ is an option never achieved.

I have no answer, but I am interested in knowing more of what’s going on….

Are they comments to other people’s answers you have noticed being removed? Or are they actual answers to questions?

Are they your own comments, or someone elses?

Has it just been one particular question that you have noticed a comment removed on, or are there multiple comments, to multiple questions, that’s been removed?

IMO, when something seems fishy, finding out more is a good thing, so that people can make well-informed decisions on future choices.

I noticed the same thing, but I have seen comments that I made that weren’t there, if later or next day visit the same question,  then I signed in and went back to the same page, my comments were there.

Great point Ron! It’s easy to be signed out and not realize it!

I’m sorry for getting back so late.  I work on Sundays.

The question I ask is not comments but answers. Why are answers sometimes removed?  On what basis are they removed?  I have had an answer removed and I was not offended.  And I have seen another answer removed as generated by someone else.  Hey, give me the boundary lines and I will not purposely violate them.  But what are they?
